Well-versed in the collection, research and preservation of theater, Debashis Roychowdhury was associated with the Natyashodh Sansthan for a long time, later becoming its Deputy Director. Another identity of his is that, he is a former professor of drama department of Rabindra Bharati University. For many years he was a presenter of various programs of Kolkata Doordarshan and later a news reader. He was once a presenter at Calcutta Aakashvani, now acts occasionally on stage and television. However, he likes to think of himself as a theater worker.
